The Walkway is about 3km South of Hawera starting at the end of Rifle Range Road. If you travel down the Whareroa Road, the Rifle Range Road is the first road to the right past the Dairy Factory.

HCS Thank You


Douglas Hutchinson of the Nowell’s Lakes Walkway Trust attended school today to say thank you to the Habitat Heroes for their help at the Walkway during 2018 and for the on-growing native seedlings at the school.

Potting Native Seedlings


Doug received a pleasant surprise when Amelia Scott of the Hawera Intermediate School called to say herself and a few mates would like to volunteer some work time the Walkway.   Doug met with the group and it was planned that they could help find self-sown native seedlings throughout the Walkway then pot them up and deliver them the Hawera Christian School for on-growing in a shade house there.  See pictures

Fringe Garden Festival




































Parking for Motorhomes and Caravans
During this Festival parking is available for self contained motorhomes and caravans.  The parking area is in a grassy picnic area at the entrenceway.  Please make prior arrangements if you wish to stay overnight. Dogs allowed as long as they remain on a leash during your walk.

HCS Award Winners

Award Winners:  Congratulations to the Habitat Heroes Team and the Hawera Christian School in being one of the winners of the 2017 Taranaki Regional Councils Environmental Awards for their work and involvement at the Nowell's Lakes Walkway.
