21st August 2017: The Hawera Christian School students along with
teachers and parents came to the Nowell’s Lakes Walkway today to plant out
native plants that they had on-grown at their school. The Normanby Lions
Club guys had the areas ready for the planting and showed them what to do.
They even provided a sausage sizzle for everyone at lunch
time.
Free Fun Family Picnic Place
The Walkway is about 3km South of Hawera starting at the end of Rifle Range Road. If you travel down the Whareroa Road, the Rifle Range Road is the first road to the right past the Dairy Factory.

Free Fun Family Picnic Day 2017
Trust Chairperson, Jan Dunlop with husband Ross are delighted with the turnout and action for this year’s Nowell’s Lakes Free Fun Family Picnic Day.
Over 700 people turned up and Jan says the events just gets bigger and bigger
and more fun each year. The event is always
held at the end of the school holidays and the children are like wild horses
let loose and do not know what to run to first.
The monster water slide or the canoeing and kayaking or the drone races
or the archery or the free sausage sizzle or back to family for the picnic and
what about the trailer chariot ride to see through the established area of the walkway.
The littlies do not miss out with all
their fun games and neat prizes donated by Fonterra.
The Nowell's Lakes Walkway Trust in
partnership with the Taranaki Zone Scouts and the Normanby and Districts Lions
Club organises these events each year with the aim of creating public awareness
and to show what the Nowell's Lakes Walkway has to offer. To see the action go to the “Fun Day 2017” page above.
